Daily Email - Friday - 08/14/2026

Well, it’s another packed weekend for me. I’ll be down at the waterfront catching all the kickflips and free live music at the Rockstar Energy Open, which I’m very excited about. But if that’s not your thing, you can steal my Sunday plans instead and go record store hopping. I put some of my favorite spots in a list below!

Now for today’s giveaway: I’ve got tickets to The Mary Wallopers at the Crystal Ballroom on Tuesday, March 30th. If a rowdy night of Irish folk sounds like your kind of night, this one’s for you.

JUST ANNOUNCED

  • Portland’s own Scott Pemberton brings his famously unconventional guitar playing to Mississippi Studios on Friday, Sept. 11th. He calls what he does “Timber Rock,” which honestly feels pretty fitting for a Portland show.

  • Jeffrey Foucault and Taylor Kingman share the stage at The Showdown on Sunday, Nov. 15th. And according to Foucault’s own bio, there’s a decent chance he’s out fishing until then.

  • After returning to music in 2021 following a 14-year hiatus, Miko Marks hasn’t slowed down. She heads to Alberta Rose Theatre on Monday, Jan. 25th, touring behind her new 2026 album.

  • After spending the last few years playing shows around the world, Pretty Sick has another Portland date on the calendar. Catch them at Polaris Hall on Monday, Nov. 16th.

  • Plus other just-announced shows from Krooked Kings and more!

A VERY GOOD EXCUSE TO BUY MORE RECORDS

Yes, you can stream basically anything now, but sometimes you want to spend an hour flipping through records and leave with something you absolutely did not plan on buying. These are some of our favorite Portland spots for doing exactly that.
