Tonight I'm heading to the Willow Avalon show at Wonder Ballroom, and I honestly couldn't tell you a single song. A friend asked if I wanted to go, and I figured, why not.

I don't end up doing that very often, but I always forget how much I like going into a show completely blind. No expectations, no idea what's coming just showing up and seeing what happens.

• Joy Oladokun brings The Heavy Things Tour to the Aladdin Theater on Tuesday, Oct. 27th. The singer-songwriter hits the road behind her upcoming album, Hope Is A Heavy Thing, out Sept. 25th.

• Of Wires, High Glow, Amine Titties, and Star Eyes play High Water Mark Lounge on Friday, Sept. 4th. If your favorite way to find new music is showing up early and seeing who opens, this one's for you.

• Thirty years after La Pipa de la Paz, Aterciopelados is celebrating the landmark album with a stop at the Aladdin Theater on Monday, Nov. 9th. The anniversary also includes a commemorative EP featuring reimagined songs from the record.

• Eyes Set To Kill returns to Hawthorne Theatre on Saturday, Dec. 12th. The longtime post-hardcore band is back on the road for a Portland stop this winter.

• Cigar headlines a night at White Eagle Saloon on Saturday, Nov. 7th, with Mercy Music, Pretty Deadly, and Old Cross rounding out the bill.
