Is this false spring? I could have sworn we already went through this, but I will not be fooled again! Although we may not be rid of the rain yet, plenty of spring and summer events have already been announced! Lucky for you, we’re keeping tabs.

Experience mint juleps and big hats with zero understanding of horse racing required. The 152nd Kentucky Derby is taking over The Nines, and we’ve got your way in!

JUST ANNOUNCED

  • This one’s for zoning out in the best way possible. Kurt Vile & The Violaters are bringing sprawling jams and slacker poetry to Revolution Hall on July 2.

  • Riki Rachtman, the voice of MTV’s Headbangers Ball and a walking time capsule of pure rock history, is hitting Hawthorne Theatre on July 21. Expect stories from the wildest nights of the 90s.

  • Clap-stomp music has never felt so good. Of Monsters & Men are taking over Edgefield this July for nostalgic indie-folk anthems that will bring you right back to 2012.

  • Dreamy, slow-burning psych-pop is taking over Polaris Hall in September. Get tickets to hear Meltt’s new album Pathways live.

  • This summer is for sun-soaked grooving, and who knows how to get sun-kissed better than the Aussies? Get tickets for electro-pop group Parcels at Edgefield.

LOCALS ONLY

  • Pix Pâtisserie is going full Bake Off this summer. Three weekends, zero stakes (unless you count the prize - a standing mixer), and a whole lot of sugar. Expect amateur bakers, chaotic showstoppers, and one eventual Star Baker standing tall. Ready, set, bake!

  • The Indigenous Gala hits Irving Street Studio on April 16 with standout food, live performances, and a stacked room of local Indigenous artists. There’s a silent auction and a fundraiser baked in!

  • We are just two days away from OMSI’s Sci-Fi Fest kicking off. Secure tickets to over 30 of the most memorable sci-fi movies, from 2001: A Space Odyssey to The Matrix to Dune.

I can literally see the pollen swirling around my car as I drive, and I swear it has been stuck in my eyes for DAYS now. Somehow, the sneezing hasn’t hit me yet, but I know it’s coming. Looks like we will be experiencing a high pollen count through Friday.
